Terms of Service

Last updated: August 22, 2026

Dira is a debate platform: people post claims, argue both sides with sources, vote, and debate live on video. By creating an account or using joindira.com (“Dira”, “we”), you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, don’t use Dira.

1. Who can use Dira

You must be at least 18 years old. If we learn an account belongs to someone under 18, we delete it. You’re responsible for your account and for keeping your sign-in method secure.

2. Your content

You own what you post. By posting, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, display, and distribute it on Dira so the platform can work.

Arguments and replies can’t be edited after posting — only deleted. This protects everyone who agreed with, replied to, or changed their mind over your exact words.

If you delete your account, your identity is erased (handle, name, email, photo, and profile details), but your claims, arguments, and replies remain on Dira without attribution, so other people’s work on those debates survives. Delete individual posts first if you want them gone entirely.

3. Community rules

Claims must be debatable statements with sources, and may not target real people, call for action against anyone, deny any group’s humanity, promote harm, or contain explicit content. The full rules are shown when you create a claim. Slurs are blocked everywhere.

Claims pass an automated review before going live; borderline ones are reviewed by a human. Moderators may approve, reject, remove, or transparently edit a claim’s wording (edits are labeled and your original is preserved). Repeated or serious violations can lead to suspension or a ban.

4. Live debates

Debates are live video broadcasts, visible to the audience while on air. Show up for debates you schedule or accept: standing an opponent up — cancelling late, not showing, or bailing in the first minutes — earns a strike, and three strikes close debating on your account until a moderator clears them. Live rooms carry monthly fair-use time allowances.

What you say on air is your responsibility and is covered by these terms just like written content. Debates can be reported and ended by moderators.

5. Memberships

Some features are part of paid memberships (Blue and Blue+), billed as monthly subscriptions through our payment provider. You can cancel anytime; access runs to the end of the paid period, and partial months aren’t refunded except where the law requires. Features included in a membership may evolve; we won’t materially reduce what you paid for mid-period. During launch, some membership features may be temporarily free for everyone.

6. What Dira isn't responsible for

Claims, arguments, votes, and debates are the views of the people who post them — not ours. We don’t endorse content and we don’t promise it’s accurate; the whole point of Dira is that people contest it. The service is provided “as is” without warranties, and to the fullest extent permitted by law our liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before a claim arises.

7. Termination

You can delete your account anytime. We may suspend or terminate accounts that break these terms. Sections about content licenses, disclaimers, and liability survive termination.

8. Changes and contact

We may update these terms; material changes will be announced on the site, and continuing to use Dira after that means you accept them. These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, USA. Questions: hello@joindira.com. See also our Privacy Policy.
