This explains what Dira (joindira.com) collects, why, and what happens to it. Short version: we collect what the product needs to work, we don’t sell it, and deleting your account erases your identity.
1. What we collect
Account: your email, name, and photo (via our sign-in provider, Clerk), plus the handle, country, and birth year you choose at onboarding. We store your birth year only, to enforce our 18+ minimum.
What you do: claims, arguments, replies, votes, agrees, follows, blocks, reports, debate participation, and live-room minutes used (for fair-use allowances). Votes and agrees are never shown publicly with your name.
2. How we use it
To run Dira: showing your content under your handle, filtering feeds by your country and interests, notifying you, enforcing community rules, metering live-room usage, and processing memberships. We don’t sell personal data or use it for third-party advertising.
3. Automated review
The text of claims you submit is checked by an AI service (Anthropic) against our community rules before going live. Arguments and replies are checked by an automated language filter that runs on our servers. Humans review anything borderline.
4. Live video
Live debates are transmitted through Agora, a real-time video provider. Your camera and microphone only activate when you choose to go on stage. Debates are currently not recorded by Dira; if recording is introduced, it will be clearly indicated before you go live.
5. Who processes your data
Service providers that run parts of Dira: Clerk (sign-in and billing), Prisma Postgres (database), Vercel (hosting), Agora (live video), Anthropic (claim review), and Resend (email). Each receives only what its function needs.
6. Email
We send a welcome email, and — if you keep “Email me” on in settings — debate challenges, acceptances, and claim decisions. Moderation notices may be sent regardless, because they’re about your account. No marketing lists, no third-party mail.
7. Deletion and retention
Deleting your account erases your identity: handle, name, email, photo, country, birth year, follows, blocks, and notifications. Your claims, arguments, and replies remain on Dira without attribution (shown under an anonymous placeholder) so other people’s debates survive — delete individual posts first if you want them gone entirely. Votes and agrees are retained without public attribution; payment records are kept as required for accounting.
8. Children
Dira is for adults — 18 and older. We collect birth year at signup to enforce this, and we delete accounts we learn belong to children under 18.
9. Your rights and contact
You can see and change your profile data in settings, export what you posted by asking us, and delete your account anytime. Depending on where you live you may have additional legal rights (access, correction, erasure, portability) — email us and we’ll honor them: hello@joindira.com. See also our Terms of Service.
